Canon Printer Tips – So did I totally mess up my printer?

February 18th, 2010 No comments

It’s a cannon Pixma MP210

I removed the ink cartridge for a couple of days while I went around trying to see if anyone could refill it.

After I replaced the ink cartridge it didn’t work, so I read the directions. It says don’t leave it dry or with out a cartridge as that may cause it to dry out or get gummed up.

It only had a 90 day warranty on it, and Cannon wants to charge me 10 bucks to get on with tech support. No way man.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to de-gunk the head on the ink cartridge?

They are on sale at Wal-mart for only 30 bucks now but if I can clean it myself and save the money I would prefer to do that. What do I have to loose? It already doesn’t work?
Any help is appreciated.

Best Answer: Get some rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Wet the Q-tip slightly and rub the print head with it. Do this 3 or 4 times with a clean Q_tip each time. Then run the “clean print heads” option on your printer properties.

  • Run a couple print head cleanings, it will be fine.

You manual will tell you how to do this.

So not put alcohol on a q-tip and touch the printer head as for 1. your print head is a prt of the printer that will absolutely ruin it.

    2. the cotton from the q-tip will make the problem worse

    3. after only a couple days the manufacturer cleaning tool will do the trick.

Canon Printer Tips – Camera help please?!?!? Printing out pictures help?

February 5th, 2010 No comments

ok, so i took so pictures with my cannon digital camera and i want to print out the pictures. are there any other way to print out my picture other than using my printer because i don’t want to waste ink. i want to print out the pictures that i have taken…but i don’t want to use my printer. are there any other way to do it? like bring it to a place so they can do it for me? how can i print out my pictures from my digital camera other than using my printer?

Best Answer: You take your memory card or load the pictures on a CD, and take it to a store. Many stores, such as Wal-Mart and Costco have machines for you to insert your card or CD, adjust the pictures, and place the order. You can crop, lighten or darken, remove red-eye, and several other changes to improve the image. Depends on the store and kind of service they provide.

Many companies have a website where you can improve and order your pictures online. Some will mail the pictures, while others will deliver to their physical stores near you. They can have specials also.

The prices for prints can vary greatly. It is worth testing them out to see if you are happy with price and quality.

  • Wal Mart, Walgreens, etc. Lots of places will print your photos for you.

Canon Printer Tips – What is the most cost effective printer as far as saving on ink cartridge replacements??

December 11th, 2009 No comments

I previously owned a cannon multipass suite, but the waste ink tank filled up and it was going to cost more to get it serviced than to buy new, so i threw it out and bought an epson cx3700.I do a lot of color copying and this one seems to run out that often that i am forever buying cartridges.I know this is where they get you with these printers. They sell them cheap, then you pay through the nose for constantly buying the cartridges.I am thinking of refilling my cartridges, and bought the inks to do this, but now i have to buy a resetter for this printer as the ink cartridges have a chip in them.the resetter is cheap enough to buy.Has any of you refilled your own cartridges and used a resetter?-is it easy ?-or tricky.-many thanks.

Best Answer: look on the web for continuous ink system (i think). you won’t need to take out your cartridges, refill them or use a resetter. you only need to refill the ink containers which are outside the printer. hope this helps. it did a lot for me.

  • it’s just cheaper to buy generic ink cartridges. If they have it in stock, try places like staples, officemax, or officedepot. Refilling can be messy and you don’t know if your filling it up correctly. The ink can also be inferior. I use to like epson for its print quality, but I ran into some bad luck with them lately. The cartridges don’t hold much ink, has to be reset, and the cartridges can be good, but the head can go bad. By the way is separate and hard to access without taking things apart. Hp is the way to go, ink cartridges are everywhere and when you replace one, you also replace the printhead. Oh btw, take the old cartridges to staples and get $3 back. Saves some $$ off new one.
  • k to be honest i’d rather just buy a new printer rather then buying more ink..casue these days 2 ink carts black and color would add up to the price of a fairly good new printer which comes with its own ink carts…lol
  • dell
  • Buy some ink to refill your cartridges if you can!..

No, you don’t need a re-setter, your cartridges have a chip which tell you the expiration date, but honestly just re-set the date in your computer, so your cartridge will “think” it’s still “good”!..

If your cartridge head gets clogged or dry and doesn’t perform good, then get a paper towel with a little water in the microwave, and set the cartridge on top of it, so the ink could flow freely again!…

There are some websites where you could find lots of info and those will suggest you to re-use a cartridge no more than three times!….Those cartridges heads get hot while printing and under continuous work get burned!…

    Good luck!!!…

Canon Printer Tips – Cant get my Epson R300 Photo to print anymore!?

December 1st, 2009 No comments

The drivers and printer functions, but when i print anything or run any tests the paper comes out blank. Using the Head cleaning option uses up allot of ink but i dont see any on the paper either.

This is my second full set of ink that i have tried, brand new which i get the same result.

Whats going on? I even tried using a Epson head cleaning solution that comes with a needle to inject it and followed the directions precisely.

Is this thing just a piece of crap? If i cant fix it i may just buy one of those new cannon printers.

Help!

Best Answer: This is actually pretty common among Epson printers. They do great when they work, the just have reliability problems. If you can’t get it to work, you might look into the HP C5180. It’s a great all in one photo printer. I’ve included a link that talks about it. Canon is good and all, but the newer HP’s are surprisingly cheap on ink, cheaper than Canon even.

  • Ink printers are so cheap to purchase, I would just go get another one. The printers are much better now than even just a year or two ago, so spend some time and research models that are made for you type of printing, ie; digital photos, documents, etc. I would recommend that you don’t buy INK this time, but spend a little more for a laser toner machine. No waste due to ink drying up, and the supplies are much cheaper. So, spend more on the machine and much less on supplies in the future. I have had my Ricoh toner printer for years with not one problem, ever.
  • well try to uninstall your printer software and drivers. then reboot and re install your printer software and drivers. this may fix it. if not it sounds like your printer has bit the dust.

Canon Printer Tips – Just a simple question for the printer of computer?

November 20th, 2009 No comments

I am using cannon ip3300, and there is a button to turn the printer off and on.

Is it ok that I just leave the printer “on” all the time? or do I only turn it on when I need to print? What about when the computer is shut? Thanks.

Best Answer: Many times when turning off the computer (or hibernating) the printer will also turn off. If it’s connected via USB give this a try. If it doesn’t turn off, then it’s whatever you prefer; the printer doesn’t use very much electricity just sitting there because it’s an ink jet printer.

  • Yes,I keep it on all the time.
  • Yes, its ohkay to leave your printer on. Leaving it on for long periods of time shouldn’t mess it up.
