Canon Printer Tips – My Canon i4750 printer just malfunctioned. Should I get a new printer?

January 28th, 2010 No comments

I need a printer(need the name of the printer and model) that is a workhorse, that works with XP, does faxing, copying and printing black and color, and one that the ink cartridges aren’t super expensive, and one where to save money you can use 2 black cartridges at once (in the holder). Any suggestions?

I have a HP Deskjet 520 that’s a workhorse that works with my word processor (have had it since 1994).
I had a Cannon Bubblejet that was a workhorse with superb ratings and it lasted 4 years but they don’t make them anymore.
The one that just malfunctioned is a Cannon i4750 and I’ve had it 2 years.

The last time this Cannon malfunctioned the holder for the ink cartridges needed replaced. But this time all it does is make noise and blink. The cartridges won’t move to the side when you open it.

Best Answer: Buy a Laser printer.

Canon Printer Tips – Paper Jam!?

    January 7th, 2010 No comments

I have a cannon i350 printer. When i try to print somthing, the paper gets jammed on the right side where the paper goes in. how can i fix it?

Best Answer: After looking at the photo of the printer on the Canon website, let me give a few suggestions (being a printer expert in the field myself.)

    1. Pull the paper out. Straighten the stack out on the table. Don’t put too much paper inside. Make sure paper isn’t too damp.

    2. Check to see there’s no debris in the feed area.

    3. Make sure the rear paper holder is up and extended

    4. Put the paper inside — straight and 90 degrees.

    5. Adjust paper side guides — don’t make too tight.

When all else fails, read the manual or call Canon.

    Good luck.

Canon Printer Tips – Replacement Ink Cartridges?

      January 5th, 2010 No comments

Cannon MP600 Printer (just purchased) Makes beautiful copies but where do I find less expensive cartridges? At Staples where I purchased this printer a complete sex of six which includes 2 blk, lylo, lrd, lbl, costs $50.00 I tried refilling them but to no success. If one color is low, the printer will not print even with the filled black cartridges. I tried printing one picture & it sucked the brains out of the color cartridges. Where to buy refills, please advise. Thanks

Best Answer: I find Office Depot is the best place for getting replacement cartridges. If you bring in your old ones they will give you a $3 coupon for each one. You can use up to 3 of these coupons at once. Wait for a sale and then you can get them for a really good price.

      • You can get remanufactured CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridges in Canada at Inkjet Oasis. These have the chips reset so they’re good to go at about 1/2 the cost of new Canon cartridges.

In the US, try PrintCountry.com (Compatible cartridges. No Chips)
        http://www.printcountry.com/products.asp…

In the UK, check out Eezytrade (new Canon cartridgs):
        http://www.eezytrade.co.uk/acatalog/pixm…

      • Walgreens will refill them for you, good luck finding those for cheap online unless you can wait like three weeks for shipping…..
      • I’ve been buying from www.carrotink.com for years, however, I recently had a problem — I think because I installed a couple of Carrotink cartridges along with the existing Epson.

While my printers are under warranty, I buy brand ink. After that, I buy generic – however – next time I will replace all cartridges at the same time and not mix a generic with a brand name.

        Another good site is 1_inkjet.com
        http://1inkjet.com/

      • cartridge world?
Look on Craigslist.com for your area
      • try cartridge world
        http://www.cartridgeworldusa.com/
      • Yep, can understand your situation. I tried refilling before and it’s messy. Worst I damaged the cartridge and need to get new ones.

However I came across a better option, that is to use recycled or remanufactured ink cartridges. So far they work great and no problem. The main thing is they cost less, much less than the new OEM ones.

You can get these cartridges on line and there are many vendors supplying these cartridges. Go for the ones that gives guarantees with the cartridges. Some of the vendors have buy back, so you can sell them your used ink cartridges and get “new” remanufactured ones.

This site http://www.inkstuffs.com/ink-cartridges-options.php has more details about remanufactured ink cartridges and where you can get the best deals.

Canon Printer Tips – Computer won’t recognize USB port when trying to install a printer?

      November 22nd, 2009 No comments

We have an older Gateway computer that has not been used for a while. The computer isn’t hooked up to the internet so we can’t download anything onto it. We are using the computer to type up papers (needed it for a secretary to use). We bought a new printer (HP or Cannon D1400?) and we put in the disc that came with it before plugging it in the comp to make sure it gets installed correctly. During the installation it stops and says it cannot find any USB ports. There are 2 on the back of the computer which we used the day before with a mouse (at first it didn’t work till we rebooted). We plugged the printer in and rebooted. The computer didn’t recognize any new devices and had the same problem with the installation. We tried the wizard and didn’t find the printer model for it. We were wanting to know if using the repair on the XP disc would fix the problem or what else we could do to solve this?

Best Answer: There may not be a problem with either. Nowadays, all usb using products run on USB 2.0 and some are not compatible with older versions of USB.

you should try contacting either gateway or cannon for more info and help.

      goodluck!

      • How about not to use USB cable , use the other cable LPT1
      • I would suggest contacting Gateway, then if they cant help, then go ahead and try the repair. Cant hurt! Just make sure you repair and not accidentally do a clean install.

      Printer
      Cannon MultiPASS MP390
      My system Windows XP
-Problem do not have CD-Rom to hook up to new computer!!
      Thanks again for your help!!

Best Answer: Yep you sure can. I always try from the manufactures site 1st.

Try finding the drivers you need from here:
      http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?…

      • google for the driver. or better yet, go to this link :

        http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=9722

AFAIK, for computer peripherals, unless you’re using an unknown manufacturer peripheral, you can usually find their drivers at the manufacturer websites. For instance, graphic drivers for nvidia cards are always available at their site. So should your printer too. If the link above didn’t work, just go to www.canon.com and try to find it. ;)

      • Well dear, drivers are the softwares necessary to make your hardware work. For every hardware there is a software, so that your computer can read it, recognise it, and make it work accordingly. Its just like “Driving your car, drive your hardware, so they are called drivers”.
If you have lost the CD-ROM,no worries, if you can connect to the internet, goto this page of canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro… and select appropriate options to download/save from internet, the appropriate drivers onto your computer.
once downloaded, locate the folder where you have saved the file, look for SETUP.EXE icon and give a double click, and follow the instructions to install.

Hope it will resolve your issue.
        Best of luck !

      • Plz search on www.google.com for the best drivers.
Because there is no other way to install drivers.
      • yea i think if you go to canon’s website you should be able to find what you need.
      • Plug the printer in and turn it on, then reboot the puter

i think windows should find it and load the driver.

If this doesnt work go to device manager and load the driver yourself.

        In XP
right click the My Computer icon on the desktop – properties-hardware tab=device manager-imaging device

if there is nothing under imaging device you can scan for a device (right click) or if there is something there you can right click that and find a driver from the list.

The above will only work if it is a printer. If your cannon is a multifunction thing then ignore this.

Go to the cannon website and download and install the driver. You should find it from the downloads or support part of the website.
